Manufacturers and importers of certain general-purpose products (i.e., non-children's products) subject to consumer product safety rules must certify in a written General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) that their products comply with the applicable rules based on testing or reasonable testing procedures.

What is GCC?

Certain general-purpose products (i.e., products for which consumer product safety rules apply) must demonstrate compliance with those applicable rules in a written General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) based on testing or reasonable testing procedures. The GCC and supporting test reports must be in English.

GCC certification for products containing button batteries or coin cells on Amazon and AliExpress

Amazon requires that all consumer products containing button batteries or coin cells and falling within the scope of 16 CFR1263 be tested and comply with the following regulations, standards, and requirements

Consumer products containing button batteries include, but are not limited to: calculators, cameras, flameless candles, flashing clothing, footwear, holiday decorations, keychain flashlights, musical greeting cards, remote controls, clocks.

Product compliance requirements required by the Amazon platform:

1.16 CFR 1263 Safety Standard for Button Batteries or Coin Cells and Consumer Products Containing Such Batteries

2. ANSI/UL4200 A (Product safety standards for button batteries or coin batteries)
